“When I first started spinning, I decided that I wanted four sheep:
a white one, a black one, a grey one and a brown one...” - Gabrielle

Natural Colored Wool Growers Association.
All of our natural colored rams and ewes are registered with the NCWGA.

Our current breeding program consists of Black Welsh Mountain and Merino, crossing to get soft, naturally colored, dark wool. We accept reservations for fleece and for lambs. We've chosen Black Welsh Mountain for the dominant black gene and a true black color. And the merino for softness, crimp and density. The merinos that we have chosen are long-stapled.

All of our sheep are coated to protect the fleece from excessive dirt, mud, vegetation and sun damage. We use and sell Matilda brand sheep coats. Visit www.sheepcoats.com for more information and sheepcoats.com/Menn.htm for prices.

Our fleeces have been sold to mills, hand-spinners, and felters. Any fleece that doesn't sell will be spun by Gabrielle or blended with our alpaca fiber at the mill and spun to yarn. Check out The Loom Room page to see some of these soft yarns that are available for purchase.

Shadow
DOB: 4/2003, Natural Colored Merino
Look at this histogram!!! Spinning count is "finer than 80's"! This is "ultrafine" not just "superfine" fleece. A single ply skein of yarn from his 2004 shearing that I hand-spun, won first place at the 2005 Lambtown Skeins & Garments competition. Several other skeins that were blended from his fleece also took home ribbons. His lambs that were born in Spring 2005 are now available for sale.
2004 Histogram: Micron 16.9, SD 3.0, CV 17.9%, CF 100%
